Known for her meticulous, no-stone-unturned research and unwavering commitment to accuracy, Virginia-based military historian and award-winning author and journalist Gina DiNicolo has written on military topics for more than two decades. As a contributing editor at Military Officer magazine, more than twenty of her stories graced the publication’s cover. She writes stories worth telling; her narrative-nonfiction style ensures these histories are accessible to all. She shares her plethora of sources as well as additional "deep-dive" information in her signature overstuffed endnotes.
Her work has taken her to the World War II 50th commemorative events on the Pacific island of Guadalcanal. She was the chief historian for Korean War commemorations.
She is Baltimore City native and 1984 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where she majored in history, after which she chose a commission in the U.S. Marine Corps. She holds a doctorate in clinical psychology.
